Overview

The IT Desktop Technician provides advanced technical support for end-user computing devices, software platforms, and enterprise IT services. This role is responsible for maintaining productivity by resolving hardware, software, and configuration issues, managing IT assets, and ensuring the integrity of endpoint standards and inventory. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to supporting technology needs across the organization. 

Responsibilities

The IT Desktop Technician provides advanced technical support for end-user computing devices, software platforms, and enterprise IT services. This role is responsible for maintaining productivity by resolving hardware, software, and configuration issues, managing IT assets, and ensuring the integrity of endpoint standards and inventory. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to supporting technology needs across the organization. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide comprehensive support to ensure users can effectively utilize IT equipment, including hardware, software, licensing, configurations, network connectivity, and mobile device management throughout the entire endpoint lifecycle 
  • Respond to technical support requests via phone, email, in person, remote tools, or through a ticketing system; diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently 
  • Image, configure, deploy, and ship IT equipment to end users; assist with setup, connectivity, and onboarding 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with user endpoints, including performing warranty-related repairs and replacements 
  • Support users across corporate offices, call centers, branch locations, and remote work environments 
  • Identify, escalate, and redirect critical or unresolved issues to appropriate technical teams to ensure timely resolution and customer satisfaction 
  • Utilize inventory and endpoint management systems for tracking hardware/software assets, antivirus compliance, remote support, system configurations, and communication tools 
  • Maintain system integrity by applying operating system updates, third-party software patches, and security configurations 
  • Coordinate the procurement of IT equipment, software, and supplies from approved vendors to support user and operational needs 
  • Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and usage policies 
  • Stay informed of system changes, emerging technologies, and IT best practices 
  • Document workstation management procedures and contribute to the maintenance of internal knowledgebase articles 
  • Provide after-hours, holiday, or weekend support as required based on business needs 
  • Troubleshoot advanced issues related to Windows 10/11, macOS, Microsoft 365, and remote access technologies 
  • Manage endpoint provisioning and compliance using tools such as Microsoft Intune or SCCM 
  • Support networking-related troubleshooting at the user level, including DNS, DHCP, and IP configuration 

 

Technical Skills 

  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for Windows 10/11 and macOS systems 
  • Solid experience working with Azure AD, Active Directory components. 
  • Proficient in endpoint management and software deployment using Intune or SCCM 
  • Familiarity with hardware components (laptops, desktops, monitors, docking stations, printers) and vendor support processes 
  • Knowledge of hardware procurement workflows, warranty coordination, and inventory lifecycle tracking 
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (IP, DNS, DHCP) as they apply to endpoint connectivity 
  • Experience with remote support and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Management) 
  • Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS AppStream or similar (preferred) 

Qualifications

Education & Experience 

  • Associate’s degree in information technology or related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience 
  • 1–2 years of experience in desktop or technical support in a business or enterprise environment 
  • CompTIA A+  
  • CompTIA Network+ or related infrastructure certifications 
  • Professional and clear verbal and written communication skills 
  • Proactive, organized, and solution-oriented 
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional technical teams
